Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting, HudBay Minerals

The main employer in Flin Flon over the years has been Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company usually referred to as "The Company". Since 2012, the company is now known as HUDBAY Minerals.

The Churchill River Power Company was a wholly owned subsidiary of Hudson Bay Mining And Smelting Co. Located on the Churchill River at Island Falls Saskatchewan, it provided power to Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting, Sherritt Gordon Mines and later to other mines and communities. Power to consumers in Flin Flon was supplied through a subsidiary company "Northern Manitoba Power".
