HBM&S Cafeteria and Dormitories And Company Cottages

When the mine was under construction there were about a dozen bunkhouses (Later made into apartement houses for middle level management) and also detached homes for the management and also a staff house for upper level employees who did not have familly or were transient Cook houses at various locations served the bunk house redidents There was a large dining room in what became the Jubilee Hall and later a Cafeteria

After the 1934 Strike Channing realized that 'his men' had lefitimate concerns and that some sort of emplyee represtaton was required. Having defeated the Union he decided to form an in huse grup to represent the employees and added the unusual task of concerning itself not just with wages bu also the welafare and happiness of the members
